Santorini Retreat 28th May - 1st June 2026
with Mickey
Having lived on Santorini for over 35 years, I’m so excited to invite you to explore my island on this wonderful retreat. Read on to find out what we have planned.
The Radiant Heart of Santorini: Karterados
As the first week of June arrives, Santorini awakens in a vibrant bloom of bougainvillea and brilliant Aegean light. Tucked away from the bustling caldera edge is the traditional village of Karterados, a hidden gem where authentic Cycladic life still hums in the winding, whitewashed alleys. Here, your retreat finds its center on a sun-drenched yoga terrace that captures the island’s expansive energy. Practicing under the soft morning sun, you are surrounded by the charm of “cave houses” and blue-domed steeples, with the blue horizon of the sea stretching out toward the east. It is a place of balance—close enough to the pulse of Fira, yet secluded enough to offer the quietude necessary for deep, inward focus.
Early Summer Serenity
June is the “sweet spot” of the Mediterranean calendar. The air is warm and fragrant, the sea is finally inviting for a swim, and the island hasn’t yet reached the peak heat of mid-summer. In Karterados, the pace is rhythmic and grounding. After a morning flow on the terrace, you can wander through the village’s stone paths or take a short stroll to the nearby black sand beaches. The energy of the volcanic soil beneath your feet combined with the endless blue of the sky creates a powerful synergy, making this the ideal season to shed the weight of the year and step into a more radiant version of yourself.
Lets’ talk accommodation : Caveland
The history of Caveland is 300 years old. This complex was originally used as a winery. The grapes were collected from local vineyards that were surrounding it. Afterwards they were mashed in a well that is located at todays reception. Finally, the wine was stored in the caves that are now converted into cave rooms. This place was later known as a tennis club and it was in the late seventies one of the first hotels in Santorini. It was refurbished and re-opened in 2011 as a boutique hostel. It offers a mixture of private and dorm-style accommodation. The property is 15,000 sqm large with a big pool, numerous gardens and hidden corners.
ABOUT THE YOGA
The yoga is practiced on an outdoor terrace in Caveland
(along with sounds of church bells, chickens clucking and horses neighing).
The morning classes are lively and active, whilst the evening classes take on a more relaxing, meditative vibe.

FULL DAY ISLAND TOUR
We start at Profitis Ilias, the highest point on the island. From here, its easier to understand how Santorini was shaped by its volcanic past and how the island fits together. The views are wide and open, and its a calm way to begin the day.
From there, we head to Mesa Gonia, a small village where everyday life still happens at a local pace. Walking through the village gives a glimpse into traditional architecture and how people have lived here for generations, away from the busy spots.
Next is Firostefani, with a short stop at the famous Three Bells of Thera. It’s a simple pause for photos and to take in the caldera views without the pressure to rush on.
We then continue to Oia, spending time exploring its viewpoints and learning about the cave houses and the way people adapted their homes to the landscape. There’s space to wander, look around, and enjoy the village at your own rhythm.
We finish the day at Domaine Sigalas, where a relaxed wine tasting introduces Santorini’s volcanic wines and local grape varieties. It’s an easy, grounded way to end the experience before heading back.

HOW TO GET THERE
Getting to Santorini is most commonly achieved by a short 45-minute flight from Athens or direct flights from many European cities, arriving at Santorini National Airport (JTR). Alternatively, travelers can take a 5-8 hour ferry from Piraeus Port in Athens, offering scenic views of the caldera upon arrival. During summer, frequent high-speed ferries also connect Santorini with neighboring islands like Mykonos and Crete. Feel free to get in touch with me or Phyll and we will be able to help you organise your travel plans to suit your needs.
